Give back with the girls this Thanksgiving. 🏀🦃
Join us for Ball for Better, a new TGWB initiative bringing the community together to volunteer and make an impact in the city we call home. We’ll spend the morning giving back, connecting with the girls, and kicking off the day with breakfast included. And if the girls want to keep the day going afterward, we can plan drinks out together! Come show up, give back, and make a difference with TGWB. Ticket proceeds for this event will be directly donated to the group we are working with to help cover the costs of food items that we will be bagging for families and kids in need.
Ashley Turner Has Joined the Roster! 🏆💕
Born and raised in Long Beach, CA, Ashley grew up in a sports-loving family, where some of her favorite childhood memories came from family gatherings centered around the game. That love for sports eventually took her to the collegiate level as a track & field athlete. And while her competitive days may be behind her, her passion for sports is still going strong.
Our girl LOVES football, through and through, but her ball knowledge doesn’t stop there. Whether it’s on the court, field, track, or in the pool, you can pretty much count her in.
Now, that passion is becoming part of Ashley's career path. After recently earning her doctorate in psychology (that's DOCTOR Turner to you), she's exploring her next chapter with the goal of moving into sports psychology. As a former athlete, she’s especially interested in the mental side of competition—from performance and confidence to identity, pressure, and what life looks like for athletes beyond the game.
We’re so excited to have Ashley in the TGWB community! 💕 And if you’re ever headed to a game with her, just know she’s already planning the outfit and where everyone’s eating afterward. 😂
Give Ashley a warm welcome and be sure to give her a follow on Instagram - ash_michellee! 👋✨
Chicago baseball fans have double the reason to celebrate! The Cubs and White Sox are both headed to the postseason, marking only the fourth time ever that both teams have made the playoffs in the same year.
The White Sox punched their ticket with a big 9–1 win over Kansas City, ending their postseason drought after three straight 100-loss seasons. Just minutes later, the Cubs followed with a 2–1 victory over Miami to secure their own spot in October.
North Side vs. South Side, both with a shot at October glory. 👀 Chicago, we see you!
Talk about a statement weekend. Melissa Jefferson-Wooden swept the 100m and 200M at the World Athletics Ultimate Championship in Budapest, going up against some of the biggest names in women’s sprinting.
In the 100m, she clocked an incredible 10.62, finishing ahead of Olympic champion Julien Alfred and 2023 and world champion Sha’Carri Richardson. The time tied for the seventh-fastest 100m ever run by a woman and became the fastest mark in the world this year.
Just 24 hours later, Jefferson-Wooden won the 200m in 21.47, edging out Olympic champion names and moving to No. 3 on the all-time world list for the event. Two races, two wins, and major history.
Consider us very locked in for what Melissa does next. 👀💨

Hi girls!
Okay… I have a lot to yap about this month. 🥹
First and foremost, The Girls Who Ball is officially ONE YEAR OLD! 🎉
What started as a little idea to bring more women into the sports conversation has grown into a community, a space, and a group of women I genuinely feel so lucky to know. And this month feels especially special because we’re officially entering our first month of events happening directly on our platform. Seeing everything come to life - women signing up, showing up, bringing friends, meeting new people, and creating out own game-day moments, has been so surreal. It’s one thing to have an idea, but it’s a completely different feeling to watch people actually make it their own. More than anything, I want to celebrate the women who have shown up. Whether you’ve been here since the beginning, came to your first event this month, invited a friend, followed along, or simply told someone about TGWB, you’ve helped shape this community into what it is today. I’m incredibly proud of every woman who has taken a chance on this community and made the effort to show up, even if you didn’t know anyone walking through the door. That’s exactly what I hoped TGWB could become: a place where you can come solo and still leave feeling like you were part of something. One year in, and I genuinely feel like we’re just getting started. There are so many more games, events, friendships, and memories ahead of us, and I’m so excited to experience all of it with you. Thank you for showing up. Thank you for believing in this. And thank you for making TGWB what it is. Here’s to year two! 💌🏀
